Vacation is Over!

Well, it seems as if I have been gone so much since our trip to California in May. In June, I spent a few days visiting my friend Dawn at her home in Houston. That was such an enjoyable trip as I was able to go by myself and spend time with her and her husband Daniel. We shopped until we dropped- or at least Dawn did. :) And this month the three girls and I traveled with family to see Aunt Mindy. Chris didn't make the trip with us as it was a trip for all the daughters and daughter-in-laws and the kids.

This was Brooke's first plane ride and Ashlyn's second - although, she looked at it as a first since she was only 5 weeks old when she flew before. You can see that they did pretty good on the flight. We had a few moments of craziness, but overall, the girls did so well on the plane.

Once we got to Portland, we drove to our beach house in Seaside, OR. It was so pretty to be staying right on the coast. We had such a beautiful view, the only bad part was that the water was so cold that we couldn't really get in it too much. Some of my older nieces and nephews spent lots of time on the beach digging up sand dollars and seashells. They even caught two crabs, but unfortunately they died before we could eat them.

One "hiccup" in the trip was the evening that Brooke tripped on the concrete. I felt so bad as it was somewhat my fault. She had a zip-up jacket on that I hadn't zipped up, therefore, when she tripped the coat had fallen around the crease of her elbow not allowing her to catch her fall with her hands - and instead with her mouth. She litterly hit the ground directly with her mouth and WOW, was there a lot of blood. Good think Aunt Theresa was there - she's a nurse and helped us get the bleeding stopped. Luckily, she just cut the inside of her lip with her teeth and NO teeth were knocked out! However, she had a pretty fat lip for a few days!

Overall, our trip to Oregon was a nice and enjoyable trip. We had fun spending time with family, especially Aunt Mindy and Uncle Michael, who we don't see very often. However, we were ready to be home after seven days - we missed Daddy very much!!!

Below are some more pics from the trip.

The Backyard Playground

Well, it is finally finished!!! It's been longer than a week, over 25 hot and sweaty man hours and 146 pages later (the instruction booklet) - it is done! This venture started two weeks ago tomorrow and finally ended last night. When we decided to purchase a playset for the girls, I don't know that we realized what a chore it was going to be to put up, but it was well worth it - the girls LOVE it - and so do the neighbor kids!

The girls want to give a big HUG and THANKS to their daddy (and our friend Tim) for all their hard work and effort!

A FIRST in the Johnson Household

Last night we had a first in our house. Maddie lost her 1st tooth!!! She's been wiggling it for a while now, but last night it finally popped out. She was so excited - she had to call both grandmas immediately. And most of all, she was so excited to put it under her pillow for the Tooth Fairy! Then this morning we had a "christmas morning" moment as Maddie ran into my room so siked to show me her $1 that the Tooth Fairy had placed under her pillow!!

Fun on the 4th of July

Our 4th began with a bike parade down our street. Apparently this has been a tradition in our neighborhood for tha past several years and the girls enjoyed joining right in on the fun this year!We paraded decorated bikes from one end of the street to the other and the kids were cheered on by the parents as well as the older couples that live on the block.

We ended the holiday by going to the lake (aka: the old Johnson Sand Plant). It was really a nice couple of days hanging out on the boat, tubing and water skiing, especially since we didn't have to share the lake. We even enjoyed the fireworks from the lake. Check out the girls tubing - they had so much fun!!!
