Brooke Turns 4 - Part II

I know I’m behind and I need to blog about Christmas…

I promise… It will be my next blog post…

But first, I must blog a little about Brookie’s birthday!

Brooke is way into Hello Kitty this year. So much that Chris and I feel like our house has “thrown up” Hello Kitty!

Hello Kitty is everywhere…

On t-shirts… and slippers… and lunch boxes and purses… and underwear…and lip lips (aka Lip stick)

So - she of course wanted a Hello Kitty birthday party! It was a must! And she talked about it until the day we had it.

And guess what type of cake we had?…

Hum…that’s a tough one huh!

And, I want to say…these types of cakes are NOT easy to make…or should I say…decorate! You hand gets cramps squeezing out those tiny little stars! Thank you to my dear hubby for helping with the icing!

Brooke opened her gift from mommy and daddy on her actual birthday…

It was a bike, with matching helmet and knee pads…

Guess who’s on it?

I know…

you’re getting nauseous!!!

Brooke got many fun and exciting gifts from family…

One of her favs was her tutu! Brooke LOVES to dress up! This was very suiting for this little dramatic arts wannabe!

And...we celebrated her cousin Kelsi's birthday too!  Thanks Kels for being such a good sport sharing your family birthday celebration with a four year old that is obsessed with Hello Kitty!

Happy Birthday Brooke!

Okay...I think Mommy has accepted that you are four!

She's 4

Today...

this gorgeous, sweet, yet ornery little kid....

is FOUR!

I'm having a hard time accepting that our baby Brooke is already four years old!

She celebrated at preschool yesterday...

and daycare today...

and we will celebrate with family on Sunday!

It's funny how a kid's birthday can become a week long event.

But, that's okay with me...because I'm not going to accept that she is 4.  I'm just not gonna!

Well....

maybe in a week!

Happy Birthday Brookie!!!

SES presents...The Wizard of Oz!

Southeast of Saline's Fall Musical this year was Wizard of Oz!

It had a cast of just over 100 kids, which about 40 were elementary students...
and MADDIE got a part as a snowflake!

This has been a BUSY week for her as she has had practice non stop since last Sunday afternoon.  She has been in rehearsals since the first part of September...but this last week has been every night until about 10 pm.  Let's just say...if Maddie isn't exhausted....Mommy and Daddy sure are!!!

But...it was well worth the time and effort and all of the cast's hard work has paid off!

They had four performances scheduled... Thursday evening, Friday afternoon (for all the SES elementary students), last night and then this afternoon.

Here is a few photos from last night's performance...

This is the scene that Maddie is in!!!

If you don't remember...in the story, the Wicked Witch of the West puts a spell on a field of poppies to slow down Dorothy's journey to the Emerald City.

See the poppies...

And when it works and Dorothy falls into a deep sleep, Glenda the Good Witch answers their cries for help by sending snow to fall on the field of poppies to break the spell.

And...here comes Maddie...as a snowflake sent from the Glenda the Witch of the North...

This one is kinda blurry, because Maddie's part was primary dancing a twirling her batons...but I had to insert it as she had such a pretty smile!!

What a Great SNOWFLAKE Maddie was!  She did such an awesome job...

And the story continues... (more pics)...

Here's Dorothy telling all her friends "goodbye"...

And now she's about ready to click her heels to go "home"...

The cast did a GREAT job!!!

Maddie had several family members come to her performances to see her...

They were all so very proud of her!!!

Here's Maddie's group...all the poppies and snowflakes!

We even got a couple pics with the main characters...

Here's Dorothy, Maddie and Toto (who was a real life dog!)

And...Glenda the Good Witch and Maddie!

And of course... you can't forget...her mommy and daddy....who were SO VERY PROUD of her!!!!

WAY TO GO MADDIE!!!   You did a GREAT JOB!!!!

Pumpkin PaZOOla

Well, I'm just now getting around to posting this, but I wanted to get it done before we start singing Christmas music, hanging lights, and decorating the Christmas Tree!

About a month ago, the girls and I (along with Grandma and Grandpa Mahoney) went to Pumpkin PaZoola at the Rolling Hills Zoo here in Salina.

We had gone once before two years ago and we thought it was a lot of fun. And, since I failed to get us to the zoo this year during the summer months, we felt it most appropriate to go and check it out!

We had a great time! And, it was a beautiful day!

We learned the first time that it was important to get there right when it opened and get our faces painted first!  Last time, we waited until the end and we missed out on getting that done!

So, we managed to be the first ones in line for facepainting and we got that "checked" off the list for the day!

Maddie chose a cat.

Ashlyn and Brooke wanted "fireworks"!

Next we spent some time picking out our pumkins!  Every child received a free pumpkin and we wanted to have a good selection to pick from.

Lastly, we just spent time at the zoo...checking out all the animals!!!

We laughed at this duck. It wouldn't stop sticking its tail in the air!! It was so funny!

I loved these turtles....

We even got to play on the inflatables they had there for the event! The girls had a blast.

And we saw more of the animals...

Have you ever seen a black swan...  BEAUTIFUL!

And, we pondered how the flaminga manages to sleep standing on one leg.... hmmmm....

Isn't the Zoo a great place?
