Ashlyn Turns Six

Our Ashlyn is SIX!

Wow...I can hardly believe it has been six years since my little baby Ash was born!

She was such a CUTE baby...

She was NOT an EASY baby... she had reflux her whole first year of life and boy did that STINK... literally!
We used receiving blankets as burb rags!....and sometimes that didn't even do the job!

We celebrated her birthday at school on Thursday (her actually birthday) by bringing treats to her class. We had lollipop snacks...they were very good! Get the recipe here.


And we finished celebrating over the weekend.

with friends at Chuck E Cheese! UGH! I'm so glad that place is only a once in a while destination. It was PACKED...and we went at 3:30 in the afternoon... however, it was a Saturday, so we probably should have expected it.

Ashlyn had "begged" to go to Chuck E Cheese for her birthday... and she has been asking non-stop to go and see Dalton, Zach, Brandi and Shawn! So, we incorporated both into her birthday celebration. The Hobbs (Brandi was our daycare when we lived in Hutch) met us at Chuck E Cheese and we got to catch up with them. We also invited the Nikkel's to join us.

It was pretty fun...at least for the kids. They played LOTS of games.

Kyler had to "cheat" a little, but that was okay.
And we opened presents...
And, we saw Chucky!
Brooke REALLY liked Chucky...especially his big nose!

We ended the celebration with family on Sunday afternoon.

Ashlyn got lots of cool presents... mostly clothes, crafts and hair accessories, etc. I was VERY happy about that! THINGS SHE CAN USE AND CREATE!!!! Yeah!
She finished the afternoon off by blowing out her candle on her birthday cake!

What a great birthday weekend! Happy Birthday my Ashlyn!

Play-Doh

Do you like play-doh?

It seems like most people hate play doh...mainly because of the mess that it makes.

I would definitely agree that it does make a mess...but, I have to admit...I LOVE play doh!

I like the way it squishes in your hand, and the fun things you can create (especially with all the fun new tools that they have). Why didn't they have those when I was a kid!

We play with play-doh in our house...however, it has to be a supervised activity! I'm not sure why, but I HATE when the colors get mixed!!! So, I usually help the girls so that they don't accidently mix the colors because some of our play-doh toys you have to take a knife to get all the play-doh out of the contraption before you put a new color in! However, I do have to watch Brookie as she will smoosh the colors together on purpose! UGH! But I guess I can't expect perfection out of a three year old!

We got a new toy this Christmas that makes burgers and french fries!

My Birthday Surprise

was Vegas! Chris surprised me with a trip to Las Vegas with a friend couple of ours! We were originally supossed to take them last fall to Vegas since they had never been...but that didn't end up working out. So, Chris invited them to celebrate my birthday by joining us for a weekend getaway in Las Vegas!

It was a nice surprise! Those that know me well, know how HARD it is for me to be suprised. I hate not knowing anything. I actually DO like being surprised...I just can't stand the waiting! I knew about my birthday surprise for about a month and within that timeframe had figured out it was a trip and that Tim and Hilary were a part of it, but I had no idea where we were going or for how long!

Well...let's just say... I was HAPPY with the outcome!....

And, THANKFUL for my thoughtful husband!

Anticipation...

So, tonight is the last night I have to wait...

My hubby has been planning a surprise for my birthday for several months now and tomorrow I FINALLY get to know what it is!

Yeah!

I cannot wait!

I think tonight might be hard for me to sleep...you know, the feeling you had as a kid on Christmas Eve, or the nights that you put a tooth under your pillow. Those nights that you know something BIG and EXCITING is going to happen the next morning!

All I know about the surprise is that it is a trip and that another couple is going with us.

I don't know...
where we are going...
how long we will be there...
what we will be doing there....
what I'm packing...(yes - I'm not even packing my own bag)

He has planned EVERYTHING! Everything to the last detail.

Now you see why I have anticipation! It's been killing me!

But the wait is almost over.... and I am SOOOO glad!
